The Beijing tournament continues and in this round of 8, Italian Jannik Sinner takes on Russian Roman Safiullin for a place in the quarter-finals. Jannik Sinner, seeded number 1, was slightly outplayed in his first round by Nicolas Jarry, ranked 28th in the world, losing a set but eventually concluding his victory with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. It was the Italian's 13th consecutive victory on the hard court in recent weeks. He appears to be unstoppable, having won the Cincinnati title against Frances Tiafoe and the US Open Grand Slam against Taylor Fritz.

Roman Safiullin entered the tournament as a qualifier. After winning his first match against world No. 943 Aoran Wang, he went on to lose to Roberto Bautista-Agut in a 3-set match. Lucky Loser, he had the chance to play the first round against Stan Wawrinka, against whom he won 6-3, 6-4. But the Russian should have a hard time upsetting his opponent of the day. Roman Safiullin hasn't won back-to-back matches since winning the Cary Challenger in mid-August against Mattia Bellucci, ranked 103rd in the world. However, in their previous duel, the Russian won the second set of their quarter-final at Wimbledon in 2023, and he could perhaps win at least one set today.
