The San Francisco Giants aim to barge into the winning column as they take on the San Diego Padres on the second day of their season-opening four-game series Friday at Petco Park in San Diego California.
Looking to bounce back from a 6-4 defeat on opening day, the Giants will be starting left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, hoping they can prevent the Padres' batters from having the same success at the plate.
The Padres, meanwhile, will be pinning their hopes on right-hander Joe Mosgrove. The 9-year veteran recorded a 3.05 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 17 starts for San Diego last season.
It would be interesting to see if first baseman Jake Cronenworth will sustain his hot run after recording six RBIs in the Padres' first three games. Second baseman Xander Bogaerts will also get a chance to do more damage at the plate after averaging .462 with six hits and four RBIs so far.
As for the Giants, Michael Conforto will attempt to improve on his opening-day performance where he recorded one homer, one RBI, and three hits against the Padres.
