The Detroit Tigers will go for two in a row against the San Diego Padres in Tuesday’s Game 2 at Comerica Park.
The Tigers won their fourth game in their last five as Zach McKinstry and Gleyber Torres each recorded three hits in a 6-4 win over the Padres on Monday. Keider Montero allowed three earned runs in 4.1 innings but Detroit’s bullpen came to the rescue, shutting down the Padres in the final four innings of the match.
The Padres absorbed their third loss in four games, sending them into a two-way tie with the Los Angeles Dodgers (16-7) in the National League West. San Diego’s pitching is still in good shape despite allowing six runs in two of their last four games. Right now the biggest concern for the Padres is their anemic offense that has produced 3.5 runs per game over their last five matches.
