It remains to be seen if the shortstop will actually play in Boston this weekend as he still grapples with a fractured left shoulder. Nick Pivetta will start for the Red Sox on Friday, who has gone 4-4 with a 4.06 ERA this season. Randy Vasquez will make just his 16th ever MLB start for the visitors. The young hurler pitched for Boston’s arch-nemesis Yankees last year, going 2-2. He is now 2-4 through his first 11 starts in 2024.
