This is one of the must-watch fixtures of the Europa League play-offs. Nothing is decided between AS Roma and FC Porto ahead of this second leg. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the two teams meet again this Thursday. The match takes place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. Already far from the top 4 in Serie A, AS Roma are certainly betting big on European competition. The team coached by Claudio Ranieri has been particularly solid in recent weeks. They will be hoping to follow this up on the continental stage.
However, FC Porto are no strangers to the European stage. Despite a scoreless draw in front of their home fans, the Portuguese club are far from having said their last word in this double-header. The current 3rd-placed team in the Portuguese Liga will still have their work cut out if they are to beat the odds in the Italian capital and book their place in the last 16 of this year's Europa League.

Since the arrival of Claudio Ranieri on the bench last November, AS Roma have been in fine form. In Serie A, the club from La Louve are on an 8-game unbeaten run. They are currently in 9th place in the Italian league, but are 5 points off the top 6. They were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup by AC Milan (3-1). However, they are still in contention for the Europa League play-offs. In the first leg at FC Porto, AS Roma managed to come away with a 1-1 draw, despite spending almost 20 minutes at a numerical disadvantage.
AS Roma have been doing much better since the return of Claudio Ranieri last November.
FC Porto, prematurely eliminated from the Portuguese Cup and League Cup, are only in 3rd place in the Portuguese Liga. They have won just one of their last 6 matches, and that was last weekend's 0-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Farense. Martin Anselmi's men are already 6 points off the top of the table. Following their 18th-place finish in the Europa League league phase, they now face a tough play-off opponent in AS Roma. Not in the best of form away from home, FC Porto will have their work cut out if they are to reach the last eight of the Europa League.

AS Roma will have to contend with Bryan Cristante's suspension for this second leg of the Europa League play-off, as he was shown a red card in the first leg. Alexis Saelemaekers is also suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Devyne Rensch is injured, while Paulo Dybala is doubtful. In midfield, Manu Koné has quickly become indispensable to the club. The French midfielder joined the Italian capital last summer and has already played 32 games in all competitions. A little further up the pitch, Artem Dovbyk is another player to keep an eye on. He has 13 goals in all competitions, including 2 in the Europa League.
Samu Aghehowa remains one of the top scorers in the Europa League, with 5 goals.
As for FC Porto, Marko Grujic will not be available due to injury. The Portuguese club still has other arguments to try and qualify for the Europa League Round of 8. Rodrigo Mora is one of the revelations of the season. Only 17, the attacking midfielder is playing more and more. He has already racked up 3 goals and 3 assists in Liga Portugal.
