The UEFA Europa League returns to our screens on Thursday evening, and it's time for things to really heat up. Coming up are the second legs of the Round of 16 ties, one of which sees Rangers take on Fenerbahce at Ibrox, where the Scots will be looking to defend the lead that they so bravely took on Turkish shores a week ago.
Despite going into last Thursday's game in Istanbul as firm underdogs, Rangers returned from the Turkish capital with a two-goal aggregate lead, thanks to a bold team performance and some fine finishing from Cyriel Desser and Vaclav Cerny. After being afforded a rest at the weekend with no domestic action, Thursday's hosts will now fancy themselves to complete the job.
Known as a man more than capable of masterminding continental success, Jose Mourinho looked on in dismay as his side failed to use their home advantage last week, and the men from Turkey now have an uphill battle on their hands, that's for sure. We saw the Turks create plenty last week, so we know that they're capable of hurting Rangers, but the question is can make enough offensive headway whilst also keeping things tight at the back?

In general, it's been an up and down period for Rangers, who recently parted ways with manager Philippe Clement, appointing Barry Ferguson on an interim basis. Should the men from Ibrox get the job done here, Ferguson may find himself being offered the job on a permanent basis, though he'll likely need to improve form overall for that to happen. Rangers haven't won back-to-back games since the first week in February, which given the expectations on them to succeed in Scotland just isn't good enough.
Those in charge of making such decisions for Fenerbahce may soon be looking to shake things up, especially is Mourinho fails to make it beyond the Round of 16 in this competition.
