Already the owner of the record for the most Grand Slam championships in men’s singles competition, Djokovic has set his sight on another hardware, but this time he’s aiming at his first back-to-back title at the US Open championship. Djokovic, who skipped major warm-up tournaments such as the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters, remains among the top contenders for this year’s title, especially after his historic gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Albot secured his place in the main draw after topping Shintaro Mochizuki 6-4 5-7 6-3 of Japan in the final qualifying match. The 37-year-old Albot had his highest finish at the US Open in 2017, reaching the third round of that tournament.
