Queretaro has been busy this summer, thanks to both domestic and continental duties. Now pegged to host Cruz Azul in a Friday night Liga MX matchup, they will hope to buck their scoring woes. Queretaro has failed to score in their last 3 matches, all losses to Cincinnati, New York City (on penalties) and San Luis. Cruz Azul will be licking their lips after having 10 days off to prepare following their exit in the Leagues Cup. A 2-2 draw after 90 minutes forced penalty kicks between Cruz Azul and Mazatlan, with the latter advancing to the quarterfinals. Cruz Azul did not go out without fighting, however. An early second-half red card forced their hand, as the Mexico City-based outfit managed to claw their way back to a level scoreline after two late goals in the waning minutes. Now they must fixate their attention on a Liga MX title, an achievable goal given their dream start to the season.
