World number seven Qinwen Zheng takes on world number 32 and multiple Grand Slam winner Victoria Azarenka in Miami on Friday afternoon. The Chinese player is the favourite to get the job done here, but after she showed that she's still very much alive and kicking at this level by beating Peyton Stearns last time out, I'm not so sure that Azarenka should be discounted. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the Belarusian looks a good bet to extend her stay at this event.

At the end of the day, Qinwen Zheng is a very good player. She's ranked number seven by the WTA for a reason, that's for sure. However, she hasn't looked at the top of her game of late, losing two hard-court matches on the spin, before dropping the first set against a lower-ranked player last time out, only to emerge victorious thanks to a retirement. That's not exactly ideal preparation for a match against a Grand Slam champion who has won this event twice before. Victoria Azarenka reminded us all that this is a venue that she likes when beating Peyton Stearns during the last round and off the back of that she could very easily get this done. At the early odds, I'm betting on her to win again, especially as she faces a player who she beat with relative ease when the pair met last season on hard.
