Zheng Qinwen of China will face Lauren Davis of the United State in the second round of the 2025 Miami Open.
After a quarterfinal finish at the 2025 Indian Wells Open, Qinwen aims to go deeper in Miami, where she went as far as the round of 16 in 2023. The 2025 WTA season hasn’t been as prolific as Zheng’s campaign through the first three months of 2024, a period highlighted by her final appearance at the Australian Open. Nevertheless, the No.9 seed poses danger to anybody in the second half of the Sunshine Doubles.
edged Aoi Ito of Japan in three sets 6-4 3-6 6-4 to arrange a second-round clash with Zheng. The American badly needed the win after suffering three straight losses and skipping the tournament for two consecutive years. Davis secured her slot in the main draw via protected ranking.
