On Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa will lock horns in a thrilling UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at Parc des Princes. This will be the first of this two-legged tie, with PSG eager to maximize their home advantage. Luis Enrique's men surprised everyone after bundling Liverpool out of this competition in the Round of 16 on penalties. They'll now be eager to eliminate another English team and probably dream of winning the trophy.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have really earned their shot at greatness this season. Unai Emery's men booked a place in the quarters after dispatching Club Brugge 6-1 on aggregate. Marco Asensio, who joined them on loan from PSG in January, has been a revelation so far, scoring a brace in their 3-0 win over Club Brugge. Villa will enter this matchup with an underdog tag, although they pack enough talent and resilience to face any side in this competition.

PSG - Aston Villa: Form Analysis
PSG have been on fire locally and will look to extend their winning form to this competition. They defeated Angers 1-0 last weekend to become the new French champions for the 13th time with six matches to spare. Les Parisiens did not lose a match during the 2024-25 campaign. However, their Champions League form has been shaky, losing four and winning seven of their assignments. Their attack has looked sharp, scoring 25 goals, an average of 2.09 per match.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, are fighting to maintain their top-four status in the EPL.
They are sixth in the standings with 51 points, just two points behind the fourth-placed Chelsea. The Villains boosted their qualification chances last weekend after defeating the third-placed Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Villa Park. Villa have now won their last five matches in all competitions and boast seven wins in their 10 Champions League assignments.

PSG & Aston Villa Squad Analysis
PSG will be without their experienced center-back Marquinhos, who is serving a suspension. He has made 19 league appearances for the French champions, scoring once. Luis Enrique could select Beraldo to partner Pacho at the center of the defense, although Presnel Kimpembe will also be pushing to start on Wednesday. In-form striker Ousmane Dembele will lead the attack, with the Frenchman scoring seven goals in his 10 Champions League starts this season.
Aston Villa will be hoping to unleash Marco Asensio on his former employers on Wednesday.
Some club fans have been worried that the Spanish midfielder, who is on loan from PSG, will not be eligible to play. However, no Champions League rule prevents him from playing this matchup. However, Jamaica's Leon Bailey is doubtful of playing after missing their last game with a knock. England's Ross Barkley is also questionable with a calf injury.
