Kudermetova looks to break her mini slump as she takes on veteran Liudmila Samsonova in an All-Russian affair in the first round of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open on Monday. Kudermetova kicked off her 2025 WTA season campaign smoking hot, winning 10 of her first 11 matches. Her only loss in this stretch came at the hands of world’s No.1 Aryna Sabalenka 4-6 6-3 6-2 in the final of the Brisbane International. Unfortunately, the younger of the Kudermetova sibling got booted out in the first round of the Australian Open by Magdalena Frech of Poland 6-4 6-4. The disappointment continued in her tournament as she also crashed out in the opening round after bowing to Kim Birrell of Australia 6-3 6-2 at the 2025 Singapore Open. Samsonova has a 4-3 slate in this season, having reached the semifinal round of the Adelaide International, where she lost to eventual Australian Open champion Madison Keys in three-sets. She made it to the second round of the Australian Open, losing to Olga Danilovic 6-1, 6-2.
