The Atlanta Braves play the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday night at Truist Park, the home of the Braves. Forced to play a rescheduled game in Chicago on Thursday, Atlanta will have one less day of rest than they would have liked going into the weekend. Meanwhile, the Pirates will travel down south off back-to-back victories over the Reds in a month which has generally been kind to them. Pittsburgh sits at 39-41, with nearly identical splits in their home and away outings. They are on the outside looking in to the playoff picture, with some predictive models giving them a 20% chance to play in October. The young Jared Jones will hope to change that starting Friday, as he gets the nod to take the mound first. The 22-year-old bats left but throws right, receiving an advanced path to the pros thanks to a contract offer straight out of high school.
