The Boston Red Sox will go for the equalizer in Game 2 of their inter-conference series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday at Fenway Park. Meanwhile, the Phillies kicked off the series in a swashbuckling fashion as designated hitter Kyle Schwarber belted a 444-foot homer on the first pitch of the game to open the scoring. Schwarber then put the icing on the cake with another solo long bomb in the 5th inning. Wheeler secured his 8th win of the season with a terrific showing on the mound. He gave up only three hits, and one earned run with four strikeouts in seven innings. The Red Sox dropped to 14-9 at home and 33-34 overall. The Phillies continue to steamroll the competition, winning 8 of their last 10 games to solidify their hold of the top spot of the NL East standings at 46-20.
