One of Wednesday's matches taking place at the ATP event in Santiago, Chile, which takes place during the morning for US viewers/bettors, see Pedro Martinez Portero take on Laslo Djere. 

In the early betting, the Spaniard is not too strongly fancied, though I'm not sure that's quite right. For starters, we are talking about the man currently ranked 36th in the world, which is much higher than Djere's ranking of 103. Of course, rankings aren't everything, but that's not the only reason to feel that Martinez could outplay his odds here, oh no. He's shown a strong ability to play at altitude before, which bodes well given the conditions in Santiago, while he's also enjoyed these courts before, reaching the final of this event in 2022. 

Laslo Djere has been in solid clay-court form of late, reaching the semi-finals in Buenos Aires last week, while he won his first-round match at this event without much of a fuss, though this is definitely a tougher test, so dont be surprised if the Serb struggled a little more than the early odds suggest.
