Paula Badosa of Spain is scheduled to play upset-minded Olga Danilovic of Serbia on Saturday in the fourth round of the women’s singles tournament at the 2025 Australian Open. Badosa barged into the fourth round of the Australian Open for the second time in her career, outgunning Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine 6-4 4-6 6-3. After bagging the first set, Badosa found herself in a 0-5 hole in the second set but she powered her way back by winning four consecutive games to get as close as 4-5. However, Kostyuk eventually calmed her nerves just to stave off the comeback attempt and extend the match to a deciding set. In the third set though, it was Badosa who came out of the gates firing from all cylinders to seize a commanding 3-0 lead. She then held her last three serves to shut the door on Kostyuk. Meanwhile, Danilovic salvaged a big fish when she eliminated top-10 player Jessica Pegula 7-6(3) 6-1 late Friday in Australia. Danilov took advantage of slow court conditions during a night session match at Rod Laver Arena to launch forehand shots that has plenty of top spins to it, effectively neutralizing Pegula’s burgeoning playing style. Danilovic won 42 points on her first serves and saved all six break points against Pegula.
