Despite dominating the majority of their opening match, the Brazilians missed a host of great chances and could not find a way through a determined Costa Rican defence. Paraguay also had an opening game to forget, as they fell 2-1 to the highly fancied Colombians. Despite possessing a host of world class players, Brazil have not been in great form recently, winning just two of their last nine games. Paraguay are likely to remain unchanged despite the defeat to Paraguay. That means the inexperienced Rodrigo Moringo will continue in goal, at the expense of regular starter Carlos Coronel. In attack, Julio Enciso will hope to build on his goal against Colombia, his very first for the national team. Paraguay picked up two yellow cards in their opening game, which means Guatavo Velaquez and Andres Cubas are one card away from a suspension.

Up front, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will continue despite their poor performances against Costa Rica.
