The Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic meet today for a crucial Game 5 in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. After a hard-fought battle in Game 4, the Celtics came away with a win, putting them just one victory away from advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Magic, now trailing 3-1, face an uphill battle, needing to win three straight games — including two on the road — to keep their postseason hopes alive.
In Game 4, Orlando struggled to capitalize on the momentum from their Game 3 victory. Despite keeping the game competitive, the Magic couldn’t overcome several critical issues. They allowed Boston to attempt 32 free throws and turned the ball over frequently, leading to 15 points for the Celtics. Orlando also shot just 43% from the field and a dismal 26% from three-point range.
Meanwhile, Boston wasn’t particularly sharp from deep either, shooting only 29%, but they made up for it at the free-throw line, going 30-for-32. The Celtics also controlled the boards, outrebounding Orlando 46-38 and pulling down 11 offensive rebounds to create second-chance opportunities.
