Danielle Collins’ farewell tour makes its latest stop in the Mexican City of Guadalajara as she faces Australia’s Olivia Gedecki in Wednesday's second round of the Guadalajara Open Akron. Collins announced earlier this year that this would be her final year on the WTA Tour, making this WTA 500 event one of the remaining tournaments left on her schedule. The No.2 seed in the tournament, Collins will be playing her first match since crashing out in the first round of the 2024 US Open, losing to Caroline Dolehide 1-6 7-5 6-4. Gadecki reached the second round of the WTA Guadalajara after posting three consecutive wins, including a masterful 6-4 6-3 win over former Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens. The Aussie fired six aces and won 65 percent of her first serves to seal the win over the out-of-form Stephens.
