Olga Danilovic is taking part in this Grand Slam for the second time in her career, having been eliminated in the second round of the 2021 season. This year, the Serbian seems to be performing better, winning her first-round match against Arantxa Rus (world no. 79) and then her second-round match against top seed Liudmila Samsonova (21) in just 66 minutes, 6-1, 6-2. 

Jessica Pegula, seeded number 6, has made a very good start to her 2025 season, with 3 consecutive wins at last week's Adelaide tournament and a runner-up finish against top 15 Madison Keys. In this Australian Open, the American won her first two rounds in just 2 sets against Maya Joint, then Elise Mertens (world no. 34). The semi-finalist of this tournament in 2023 should give her all to string together a 3rd consecutive victory without dropping a set, in order to reach the last eight, as she has been accustomed to doing in tournaments of this level for several participations.
