CF Montreal (6-8-9, 26 points) visits Red Bull New York (9-10-4, 37 points) in a match that could be critical to the visitors’ playoff chances. Montreal sits in a tie for the last playoff spot with Nashville, but that’s not going to last for long if the Impact can’t figure out how to win away from home. Montreal has been a horror show away from Quebec this season, taking just two points in its past nine away matches.
It doesn’t seem likely things will go any better in New Jersey, as the Red Bulls have not lost all year on their home pitch. The bad news for RBNY is they also haven’t done a lot of winning lately; five of their past six matches have ended with the teams sharing the points. That includes last month’s venture up Interstate 87 to Montreal, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
