Former world's No.1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia begins his clay-court season against fiery Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the second round of the 2025 Monte Carlo Master on Wednesday.

Djokovic will kick off his quest for a career-setting 21st ATP 1000 tournament title and third Monte Carlo Open crown when he goes head-to-head with Tabilo. The 24-time Grand Slam winner enters the fray in Monaco with a staggering 81.7 percent win rate on clay and handful of titles won on the red dirt. Last year, Djokovic went all the way to the semifinal round before falling to Casper Ruud in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-1, 4-6.

Tabilo earned only his third win of the season on Monday after downing former French Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka 1-6 7-5 7-5. The Chilean overcame a 0-1 set hole by pressing the action on the Swiss, capturing 38 points off the first serves and 19 off the second. The win did not only bolster his confidence, it has also given him the opportunity to test his wares against arguably the greatest tennis player in history. Tabilo leads the head-to-head series with Djokovic 0-1 after stunning the Serb 6-2 6-3 at the 2024 Rome Open.
