The North Carolina State Wolfpack (22-14 SU, 17-18-1 ATS) try to follow up their surprise ACC championship with an upset of the Texas Tech Red Raiders (23-10 SU, 15-17-1 ATS) in Pittsburgh. The biggest question for the Wolfpack is whether they have anything left after playing five games in five days with very little depth. No team had ever won five games in five days to win the ACC until the Wolfpack, and with only eight consistent players, a short turnaround might be too much to ask of them.
Texas Tech struggled down the stretch with the Big 12’s brutal schedule. The Red Raiders went just 7-7 SU and 5-8-1 ATS over their second half of the season, but they also played no easy games in that stretch. The Red Raiders beat tournament teams Kansas, Baylor, TCU and BYU in that stretch, but they also lost to Central Florida and Cincinnati. If State has anything left, the Red Raiders can be beaten. If not, Texas Tech should cruise to victory.

Not only does North Carolina State lack the defense needed to slow down Texas Tech, but the Wolfpack might face a hostile crowd in Pittsburgh. The Wolfpack’s surprise ACC title helped knock the hometown Pittsburgh Panthers out of the NCAA tournament, and the crowd might turn against NC State as a result.
Beyond that, the Wolfpack has no real answer for Texas Tech’s 3-point shooters. Four of the Red Raiders’ starters can shoot from the perimeter, with Darrion Williams and Chance McMillian both highly accurate from behind the arc. N.C. State doesn’t get teams off the 3-point arc very well, and it doesn’t shoot well enough to deal with the Texas Tech defense. Our prediction for North Carolina State vs. Texas Tech: Texas Tech -4.5
