Newcastle takes on Tottenham up north at St. James’ Park in a Sunday matinee clash in the English Premier League. The Magpies are coming off two straight 1-1 draws in two different competitions. The club prevailed over Nottingham Forest on penalties in an away tie for League Cup duties in midweek. They are now tasked with continuing their undefeated start to their domestic campaign. Tottenham are attempting to do the same, with the two now tied for fifth on the table with 4 points. A draw against Leicester was not quite the outcome Tottenham Hotspur were looking for in their opener, but they redeemed themselves with a 4-0 drubbing of Liverpool-based side Everton at home in their next outing. Newcastle drew Bournemouth 1-1 after defeating Southampton 1-0 in their curtain-raiser. With only one goal conceded through their first two games, the Magpies are hopeful they have put to rest their issues on the backline from a season prior.
