The New York Yankees will go for the broke on Sunday, eyeing a three-game road sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
The Yankees strengthened their grip on the top spot of the AL East with a 6-2 slate following back-to-back routes of the Pirates. Aaron Judge looks set to another MVP run this year as he extended his hit streak to four games in Saturday’s Game 2. After eight games, Judge leads the Yankees in batting average (.364), RBIs (17) and home runs (6).
The Pirates dropped to 2-7 this season after losing their last two to the Yankees. Despite possessing one of the most promising starting rotation in baseball led by reigning NL Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh carries the second worst ERA in the MLB at 5.22. They also rank in the lower quadrant of the league in batting average (.198) and runs (27).
