A Saturday matchup in the desert sees the 31-37-5 Arizona Coyotes hosting the 49-20-4 New York Rangers. After a 14-game losing streak earlier in the season, the Yotes have been in solid form of late, winning four of their last five at home and 5-2 in their last seven overall. The two losses have both come at the hands of the Dallas Stars, which is no disgrace given that the Stars are the only team in the Western Conference who have secured a spot in the playoffs at the time of writing. They beat the Nashville Predators 8-4 in their most recent home game, tying the most they have scored all season. They have netted four or more in six of their last 10 games, including four of their last six at home.
The Rangers are on course to perhaps have the best season in their history in terms of regular season wins which is quite something for an original six team. They won in Colorado on Thursday in a shootout which took them to 7-2-1 in their last 10 on the road. That was also the third game in a row that they have gone beyond the 60 minutes, winning all three of them. Six of their last eight games have had over 6.5 goals in them, the other pair having six and five so there have been plenty of goals in their games of late. These teams met very early in the season with the Rangers coming out on top 2-1. That game had 66 penalty minutes after the final whistle blew so despite the long gap between games, there could be some bad blood spilling over.
