The Pittsburgh Pirates resumes their homes stand on Friday as they play host to the New York Mets for Game 1 of a four-game series at PNC Park. The Pirates went 1-2 in their recent series against the St. Louis Cardinals, losing the series finale after giving up two runs in the 10th inning. Pittsburgh compiled a record of 14-12 last June, batting .230 with 106 runs while holding teams to a 4.01 ERA. The Mets came out of the four-game series with the Washington Nationals with a 2-2 slate after they dropped their last two games, including a 1-0 snoozefest in the series finale. New York will try to sustain the momentum they started in June, during which they had gone 16-8 while batting .280 with 153 runs and conceding a 4.17 ERA.
