The Minnesota Twins and the New York Mets again square it off in Wednesday’s Target Field rubber match.
The Twins earned their second win in three games behind terrific hitting led by Harrison Bader and Ryan Jeffers, who had three hits each. Brooks Lee also belted a solo homer in the 7th inning, capping a solid offensive night for Minnesota that ranks 27th in batting average (.203) and 26th in total runs (56).
After two shutout starts, Tylor Megill conceded three earned runs in a five-inning start. The Mets bullpen, who sports a 2.02 ERA this season, also played below their capabilities as they squandered four more earned runs against the Twins. Despite the loss, the Mets remain first in the National League standings with an 11-6 record.
