The New York Mets will go for two in a row against the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park on Tuesday.
The Mets improved to 2-2 in the season after routing the Marlins 10-2 in the series-opener on Monday. The bats came alive as Pete Alonso delivered a grand slam while Javier Marte, Brandon Nimmo and Luis Torrens belted a homer each. David Peterson gave up two runs with 9 Ks in six innings to get the win.
Monday’s loss snapped the Marlins’ two-game winning streak, though they have the chance to get even with Sandy Alcantara expected to start in Game 2. Alcantara is 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA in his last five starts. He will be pitching against the Mets for the first time since March of 2023, when he allowed three earned runs in 5.2 innings in a 3-5 loss.
