The last game in the NHL schedule for next Thursday, January 09th corresponds to the clash between Vegas Golden Knights and New York Islanders, teams that are currently having an opposite performance in their respective Conferences. With that in mind, it isn’t weird enough to have Vegas as the big favorites to obliterate the Islanders.

However, Vegas Golden Knights mustn’t be overconfident at all, as only in 2 out of their last 5 games they were truly able to show offensive dominance after shooting 35 or more times on target. Despite that fact, it’s very important for them to keep Jack Eichel on a high level, so he’s expected to appear in this game as the offensive leader, just like he was against Buffalo, Philadelphia and Montreal.

Meanwhile, New York Islanders are the second worst team in the Eastern Conference standings, but they could be strongly motivated after cutting off with a streak of 3 losses in a row with their overtime victory over Boston Bruins (4-5). In addition, it’s very positive for them to, at least, shoot more than 30 times on target during their last 5 games, but having issues to find an offensive reference, as no one looks ready to take that responsibility.
