The Nevada Wolf Pack (26-7 SU, 21-11 ATS) square off against the Dayton Flyers (24-7 SU, 16-15 ATS) in the NCAA tournament's first round in Salt Lake City. This game matches two of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation, as both shoot better than 39% from the perimeter. Nevada also gets quality scoring inside the arc from Kenan Blackshear and Nick Davidson, both of whom mostly shoot from inside or the mid-range.
Dayton's biggest weaknesses are its midrange defense and its interior defense, which seems to play right into Nevada's hands. However, the Flyers also shoot the ball very well and get to the free throw line regularly, which suggest that both teams should put up points in a tight matchup.

The Wolf Pack also faced a tougher schedule over the past two months, as the Mountain West produced six tournament teams compared to the Atlantic 10's two.
Dayton didn't close out the year very well, losing to George Mason and Loyola-Chicago over its final five games. Even in the games the Flyers won, the defense wasn't up to scratch. In Dayton's past two wins, VCU scored 86 and Saint Louis scored 83. Only once in the Flyers' final six regular season games did they keep their opponent below 70 points.
