The Netherlands take on Turkey this Saturday, July 6 at 3:00 pm Eastern in the quarter-finals of the Euro in Germany. The "Oranje" are on the rise in this competition. After a mixed group phase (1 win, 1 draw, 1 defeat) and a 3rd place finish, the Dutch team hit back in the Round of 16 with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Romania.
Turkey, for their part, struggled to overcome Austria in the previous round (2-1) and can thank their goalkeeper, Mert Günok, for a remarkable performance and a monumental save from a close-range Austrian header at the very end of the match!
The "Oranje", winners of the Euro in 1988, their only major trophy, will not want to miss the opportunity to reach the last four of this competition by getting the better of the Turks, who look a notch below them. Will Turkey be able to beat the odds, even with Gakpo on top form?

The Netherlands seem to have launched their Euro campaign on July 2. After a mixed group phase in which they won just one match against Poland (2-1), shared the points with France (0-0) and lost to Austria (2-3), the Dutch team silenced the critics against Romania (3-0) in the Round of 16.
The Batavians dominated their first knockout match in every department of the game (61% possession and 24 shots to 5), suffocating the Carpathian side who were under pressure throughout. A far cry from their match against France, when the Oranje played with their arms tied around a draw, this is what we want to see from a Dutch team bursting with talent.
After 3 average opening games, the Netherlands silenced critics against Romania.
Turkey, for their part, have been promising, showing intent in this Euro 2024. Their only defeat came on June 22nd against Portugal (0-3) on Matchday 2 of the group phase. For the rest, Turkey have been a pleasure to watch, with two wins over Georgia (3-1) and the Czech Republic (2-1) during the group phase!
Vincenzo Montella's team were then extremely fortunate in their Round of 16 clash with Austria (2-1), and owed their qualification to a brace from defender Merih Demiral and experienced goalkeeper Mert Günok (35), who saved his side's day on several occasions! It's worth noting that Turkey, who are on the back of a heavy defeat to the Netherlands in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers (6-1) following a hat-trick from Memphis Depay, will need to be at 200% in all areas of the game if they are to achieve anything.
