The 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season continues with an exciting clash between North Carolina Courage and Seattle Reign at WakeMed Soccer Park on March 22.
Seattle Reign had a disappointing 2024 campaign, finishing in 13th place with only 26 points. Their main struggles came in attack, as they managed just 27 goals throughout the season while conceding a league-high 44 goals. Under head coach Laura Harvey, the Reign must address their defensive issues and find more creativity in the final third if they want to compete for a playoff spot this year.
On the other hand, North Carolina Courage had a more respectable showing last season. They finished in 6th place, accumulating 39 points, and managed to secure a playoff berth. Their defensive organization was one of their strong points, allowing just 28 goals, making them one of the toughest defenses to break down in the league. However, they struggled at times to break down defensive-minded opponents, something they’ll need to improve on if they want to challenge for the NWSL title.
