Mirra Andreeva of Russia will try move closer to another prestigious WTA title as she battles compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova for a place at the 2025 Stuttgart Open quarterfinals on Thursday.
Andreeva advanced to the round of 16 of the Stuttgart Open at the expense of his sister Erika Andreeva, 6-2, 1-0 ret.. Looking to even the score with her sister after losing in their first encounter in Wuhan last year, Mirra launched a relentless attack on Erika in the first set, breaking three times and holding all her serves except the first game. After holding serve for a 1-0 lead in the second set, Mirra was given a passage to the next round as her elder sister could no longer continue the match because of injury.
Alexandrova also progressed to the next round with a clinical 6-3 6-3 win over Liudmila Samsonova. Alexandrova fired 10 aces and collected 30 points off his first serves while breaking Samsonova’s serves four times. The Russian is eyeing to add her first ever clay court title and sixth crown on the WTA Tour.

Our Mirra Andreeva vs Ekaterina Alexandrova Prediction
At a young age, Mirra Andreeva has already shown that she can compete for the big titles on the tour, no matter what surface it is. So far, it’s looking like Andreeva is set for another deep run in Stuttgart following her easy win over her sister. Against Alexandrova, Andreeva will face a seasoned veteran who has a history of beating seeded players (17-33 record against top-10). However, I don’t see the Russian teen sensation losing this match just because she’s already a more polished and accomplished clay court player than Alexandrova, even at her young age. Andreeva is coming into the clay court season with the goal of improving on her semifinal finish at last year’s French Open. Accomplishing such an ambitious goal won’t be easy because the field is as strong as in previous years. However, I believe Andreeva’s title run in Dubai and Indian Wells is a prelude to more incredible things from the Russian rising star. Alexandrova may give her some scary moments along the way, but I do not doubt she will overpower her. Our betting prediction for Ekaterina Alexandrova vs. Mirra Andreeva: Mirra Andreeva will win 2-0.
