Russia’s Mirra Andreeva will try to break new ground as she takes on two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova on Friday for a place in the 2024 Ningbo Open semifinals. Andreeva is faced with an opportunity to go to the semifinal round for the first time since bagging the Iasi Open in July. The Russian teen clobbered Tamara Korpatsch of Germany 6-0 6-4 in a display of dominance and grace. Andreeva won 73 percent of her second serves while coming through with six breakpoints that had kept Korpatsch at bay throughout their match. Meanwhile, Krejcikova had to navigate a testy confrontation with China’s Yexin Ma to barge into the quarterfinal round. The No.4 seed had to climb from 5-6 hole in the first set by winning a breakpoint in the 12th game and holding her serve in the next. Krejcikova once again found herself a game down, 2-3, in the second set, but the Czech kept her composure and swept the next four sets to post a 7-6 (5) 6-3 win.
