The Chicago White Sox will try to move a game above .500 with a win over the Minnesota Twins in Game 2 of their homestand today. First Pitch at Rate Field in Chicago, IL, is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. EST. Fans can catch the action via Twins TV (regional).
With 150+ games to go, being a game above .500 at this point in the season is meaningless. But for a team that lost 121 games last season, it’s a reason to believe better days may be ahead. In the series opener yesterday, the Chicago offense chased Twins starter Chris Paddack after tagging him for six hits (three home runs), four walks, and nine earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. Martin Perez got the win for the White Sox after throwing six hitless innings. Chicago hopes to get a similar outing out of Shane Smith today during his major league debut. Minnesota is scheduled to start Simeon Woods Richardson. He started 28 games for the Twins last season but had only a 5-5 record with a 4.17 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Opponents hit .246 off him last season and recorded 16 home runs.

Our Minnesota Twins vs Chicago White Sox Prediction
Minnesota is a good team and will eventually get its act together, but I’m not sure it will happen today. A rookie pitcher taking the mound for the Sox makes me a little nervous, but he was impressive in spring training. I like the ML for the White Sox at +143 (Caesars), but it would not be shocking to see the Twins make a game of it by beating up on Chicago’s rookie starter.
I think Chicago can win, but if they don’t, it will be close.
