It will be an in-state battle in Michigan this evening. The #14 Michigan State Spartans and #12 Michigan Wolverines will battle for the top spot in the Big 10 standings. The Wolverines have won 6 straight games after losing to #11 Purdue back in late January. The Spartans have won back-to-back games after losing 3 of their previous 4 games. All 3 of those losses came to unranked teams and allowed Michigan to sneak up on them in the conference standings. However, their 75-66 win over #13 Purdue has seemingly shown that the Spartans are back on the right track.

This is the 1st of 2 meetings between the in-state rivals. They will meet again to end their regular seasons in a game that could decide the regular season conference title. These teams are rather similar statistically with just 2 things popping out in contrast. The Spartans are average in turnovers committed per game while the Wolverines are near the bottom of the ranking in the country. The other part is the shooting percentage from long distance. Michigan is 76th in the country in 3-point shooting while Michigan State sits in 356th.  These 2 pieces of the game will play an integral part in who comes out on top.
