The New York Mets (63-59) will play game two against the Miami Marlins (45-77) in New York on Saturday. They dropped game one 7-3 on Friday. A 6-run 4th innings by the Mets is what was the difference in that game. Both Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo homered in the inning and accounted for 5 of the 6 runs. Sean Manaea went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits while picking up the win. Roddery Munoz and George Soriano combined for just 6 innings while allowing 7 runs on 9 hits and walked 5 batters. The Mets will go with Luis Severino (7-6, 4.17) to get the win and take the series. However, Severino has not had great starts over his last 3 starts. He has given up 14 runs over 13 innings and took losses in all 3. For the Marlins, Max Meyer (3-2, 5.20) will be on the bump. Like Severino, he has not been great over his last 2 starts. He has given up 14 runs on 22 hits over only 15.1 innings. If the last series is any indication, this game should go to the Marlins. These two faced off in a 4-game series last month and they traded wins for losses in each game. Severino went 6 innings of shutout work in his last go against the Marlins while Meyer has yet to face these Mets this season.
