The Cubs have now breached the 100-run mark 18 games into the 2024 MLB season. Chicago, which opened as slight -161 money line home favorites, has a batting split of .247/.327/.415 with 101 runs. The team’s pitching numbers aren’t that good though. The Cubs just missed the bottom 10 in ERA at 4.31 while their 1.33 WHIP ranks 23rd in the league. There seems no end in sight for the Marlins, whose batting and pitching metrics are among the worst in the league. Miami is batting .216 and slugging .399, ranking 28th and 29th respectively. Moreover, the Marlins’ 70 runs after 18 games are the 8th lowest run output in the majors. For the pitchers: AJ Puk (0-3, 5.91 ERA with 8 Ks) is still searching for his first win of the season after coming up short in his first three starts for the Marlins. He will go up against Cubs’ Jameson Tailon, who is set to make his season debut. The 32-year-old righty had an 8-10 record last year with a 4.84 ERA and 140 strikeouts.
