The Atlanta Braves will try to capture their first winning streak this season on Saturday, as they gun for two in a row against the Miami Marlins at Truist Park.
The Braves ended their seven-game losing streak in a dominant fashion, blasting the Marlins 10-0 in Game 1 on Friday. Spence Schwellenbach put on a show on the mound as he held the Marlins hitless through five innings before winding down with 10 strikeouts over 8 innings. The Braves’ big bats also came alive with Marcell Ozuna and Matt Olson chipped in three RBIs each.
The Marlins finished a game without a single run for the first time this season as they had no answers to Schwellenbach’s dominance from the bump. Miami is batting .231 with 29 runs and pitching a 4.27 ERA this season.

I am not expecting much from AJ Smith-Shawver, who threw two earned runs over four innings in a 0-5 loss to the San Diego Padres. However, I think the 10-run outburst in Game 1 has significantly bolstered the Braves’ spirit, making them believe that they can deal a lot of damage at the plate after going through probably the ugliest start in the franchise’s history. Quantrill is a solid pitcher, but I doubt if he has already recovered from a nightmare of a debut against the Mets, in which he allowed six earned runs over 4.0 innings.
