Ashlyn Krueger and McCartney Kessler are set for an All-American battle in the first round of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open on Monday. Krueger will play his first game since losing to Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the first round of the 2025 Australian Open. Before her unfortunate exit at the Australian Open, Krueger had reached the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International and Adelaide International and looked poised for a deep run in the first major event on the WTA calendar. Kessler breezed through the qualifier to punch her ticket to the main draw of the Abu Dhabi Open. The American is eager to bounce back from a devastating first-round loss to Shuai Zhang of China at the Australian Open. Many had high hopes Kessler would make noise at the Grand Slam event after winning five matches in a row to win the 2025 Hobart International.
