As the world number eight, Maria Sakkari, who is no slouch on clay, is the favourite ahead of this match, and rightly so. However, the Greek looks a little overbet here. Sure, she's a strong competitor, but she has slipped up a couple of time against players ranked below her recently, while Kalinina is no easy player to face. The Ukrainian is yet to lose in straight sets on European clay-courts this season, while she likes Rome, reaching the final here last season, beating higher-ranked players to get there. For my money, the lower-ranked player has shown more than enough to warrant a bit more respect here and thus she looks a value bet to win at least one set in this match.
