Manchester City and Newcastle are only separated by goal difference in the Premier League table, so a tight contest looks in store when they meet at the Etihad on Saturday. City's title defense is on life support following a terrible run of form in November and December. While they have shown signs of improvement in the last few weeks, they still look some way off their best and a place in the top four looks to be the height of their ambitions for the rest of the season. Newcastle will also have their eyes on a top four finish. Last week's defeat at home to Fulham dented their hopes, but victory over one of their biggest rivals will get them firmly back on track.

Manchester City & Newcastle Squad Analysis
Rodri remains Manchester City's major long term absence. The Spanish star has been out since September with an ACL injury and City have been struggling to plug the huge gap in their midfield ever since. Aside from that, the champions have a virtually clean bill of health, with Jeremy Doku, Nathan Ake and Ederson all expected to be fit following minor injuries.
Newcastle still have Joelinton and Harvey Barnes on the sidelines, whilst Anthony Gordon is also a major injury doubt. Defenders Sven Botman and Dan Burn are also likely to miss out, having failed to fully recover from knee and groin injuries respectively.
