The day after OGC Nice, it was the turn of the second French club to take part in this new edition of the Europa League: Olympique Lyonnais. After a fine end to the season, the French club managed to secure their ticket for the Europa League. They will now take on Olympiakos at Groupama Stadium this Thursday. Having suffered a heavy blow to their confidence this weekend against rivals Marseille, Lyon will be keen to reassure themselves on the European stage.
Olympiakos, meanwhile, are in 3rd place in the Super League. However, the Greek club have failed to win in their last 2 league games. They lost 2-1 to Aris. As a result, they're not in great shape for the start of the Europa season. José Luis Mendilibar's men will be looking to raise their game and beat the odds in Lyon.

Lyon - Olympiacos: Form Analysis
After losing their first 2 Ligue 1 games, OL bounced back with a 4-3 win over RC Strasbourg. This should have kick-started their season. Especially as they followed up with a point at RC Lens (0-0). However, Pierre Sage's team fell from grace last weekend. In the Olympico against Marseille, OL quickly found themselves on top after just 5 minutes. They will not, however, be able to count on Anthony Lopes, who has not been included on the list of players eligible for the Europa League. Pierre Sage will certainly be expecting more from his forwards. Georges Mikautadze and Alexandre Lacazette did not shine last weekend. Why not regain some confidence in the Europa League? Les Gones will also want to be more solid defensively. To do so, they will need to keep a close eye on Clinton Mata, Nicolas Tagliafico and Duje Caleta-Car.
