Luciano Darderi vs Taro Daniel Prediction & Picks - ATP Lyon Open
by Bradley Gibbs | in Tennis Picks
On Tuesday, in the French city of Lyon, Taro Daniel and Luciano Darderi will go head-to-head. The Italian, who has been in decent clay-court form over the past few months, will be viewing this tournament as a real opporunity to go deep and maybe even challenge for a title, but he has a tricky-looking match here against a Japanese player who isn't always easy to beat, while the weight of heavy favouritism may not be too easy to shoulder. It will be interesting to see how the 22-year-old fares.Limited Offer. Currently at DraftKings

Our Luciano Darderi vs Taro Daniel Prediction
Luciano Darderi is an improving player, and if he is to claim a title on European soil in the not so distant future then it'll likely be on clay, and it'll likely be a less than top tier event such as this one. He has the credentials to beat Daniel here, but I can't support him to come out on top at the early odds. We shouldn't forget that Darderi isn't a top, top player. He's a promising 22-year-old, sure, and he's worthy of his current ranking inside the top 50, but I feel that he's being priced as more of a top player here and he's just not quite there yet. Moreover, Daniel, though far from a top player himself, can cause higher-ranked players a few problems on clay. We've seen this already this season, as he pushed Griekspoor to three sets in Madrid. The Japanese player has also had two matches already to get used to the courts in Lyon, while this will be Darderi's first match outside of Italy for a month, so he may need a little time to adjust to the faster conditions, with this tournament being played roughly 400 meters above sea level. Ultimately, the Italian is the better clay-court player and he should get the job done, but I'm not so sure it'll be easy and the best way to try and make that pay is by betting on this one to go the distance. Our Prediction: Over 2.5 Sets.
