Adrian Kempe scored his 16th goal of the season to open the scoring and Alex Turcotte slotted in the other goal in the second period. Unfortunately, the Kings could not sustain their fine play as the Penguins demonstrated their hustle and heart the third period and overtime. Matt Grzelcyk leveled the game at 2-2 with a goal at the 14:25 mark of the third period while Rickard Rekell iced the match for the Kings with the game-winning score in OT. The result dealt the Kings their 9th loss of the season.
