After avenging their series-opener loss with an 8-4 win on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers will go for the series-clinching win over the Miami Marlins on Thursday at loanDepot Park. The Dodgers (90-62) continue to stay in the lead in the National League West standings despite being chased by the San Diego Padres (87-66) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (84-68). Los Angeles has won three of their last four games, including Wednesday’s 8-4 win in which Shohei Ohtani recorded his 49th stolen base of the season. Ohtani, who aims to become the first player to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season, posted his 48th homer in the series opener against Miami on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Marlins could not capitalize on the momentum they gained from their 11-9 win on Tuesday, falling to the Dodgers for the fifth time this season. With a 56-96 slate, Miami finds itself with the worst record in the National League East at 56-96. Headed into another losing season, the Marlins must plug several holes in their roster to be more competitive in 2025.

Despite going 0-for-3 vs. projected Marlins starter Edward Cabrera in their previous faceoffs, there’s a likely chance we are going to see another home run from the Japanese baseball sensation in Game 3. Ohtani might be 1-for-10 against the Marlins in this series, but everybody knows it takes one half-baked pitch for Ohtani to crush the ball far into the stands.
