The Seattle Mariners (53-50) have lost 7 of their last 8 games and to add injury to insult, Julio Rodriguez just went to the IL. Arguably the best and most productive hitter on their roster, the loss of Rodriguez is going to be a tough one to replace. They are facing another team that has their top hitter currently on the IL in the Los Angeles Angels (44-57). Mike Trout has been out of action for quite a while and exited his most recent rehab start which does not bode well for his return. Tonight, the Angels will try to go for the sweep of the Mariners. Game one was a 3-1 victory for LA while game two was 5-1. Tonight, Giffin Canning (3-10, 5.20) will be tasked with pitching them to the sweep. He will need to forget his last start which was a 6 run, 3.1 inning outing against the Athletics. He will be opposed by Luis Castillo (8-10, 3.55). Castillo was decent in his last outing which came against the Astros. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings but got little run support and took the loss. The Mariners are going to need to produce more than the single run they have scored in the 1st two games to avoid the sweep.
