Two of the most struggling teams in recent years in MLB, the Angels and the White Sox, meet on Opening Day at Chicago's Rate Field with a pair of noteworthy storylines for both heading into the season, and with the Angels favored to win the opener at odds around -140.
Will Venable is the new manager of the White Sox and will be tasked with correcting the embarrassing 121-loss record the White Sox set in 2024. To do so, he'll have to do so with a roster that some consider even worse than last year's after parting ways with star signing Crochet. Sean Burke is the likely opening day pitcher for the White Sox, while Robert Jr. is expected to put his injuries behind him and continue a strong spring training season. The White Sox's newest acquisition, Tauchman, will begin the season on the disabled list due to a Hamstring injury.
Despite the disastrous 2024 season, at least the White Sox managed to sweep the Angels when they hosted them in Chicago last year at the end of the season.
