After a scarcely believable victory in Paris last week, Liverpool go into the second leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with PSG holding a narrow 1-0 lead. PSG recorded 27 shots on goal in the first leg, but thanks to some poor finishing, plus an inspired performance from Liverpool keeper Alisson, they failed to find the net. In contrast, Liverpool managed just two shots in the entire 90 minutes, but a late breakaway goal from substitute Harvey Elliott gave them a memorable win. If PSG are to overturn the tie, they will look at forwards Ousman Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for inspiration. Both players ran the Liverpool backline ragged last week, creating a host of goalscoring chances. Saturday's come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Southampton means they are now 25 games unbeaten and enjoy a healthy double figure points lead over second place Arsenal. PSG are also on the cusp of winning a domestic title. They hold a 16 point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table and are yet to be defeated in the league this season. After a slow start in the Champions League first phase, they burst into life, winning their first three league games before demolishing Brest 10-0 in the play off round.

Liverpool will be without Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 8 tie. Cody Gakpo has not played in his side's last 2 games and remains doubtful. Arne Slot is hoping for the same performance from Alisson Becker as in the first leg. The Brazilian keeper put in perhaps one of the best performances of his career. He made one save after another to earn himself a clean sheet at the Parc des Princes. In front of him, the central pairing of Ibrahima Konaté and Virgil van Dijk will also be eagerly awaited. And it's hard not to mention Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian winger has racked up 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions.
In the first leg, Alisson Becker put in an outstanding performance in goal for Liverpool.
As for PSG, there should be no absentees whatsoever. Excellent news for Luis Enrique. Gianluigi Donnarumma's performance will be closely watched. Although Alisson Becker came up big last week, the Parisian keeper conceded a goal from the Reds' only shot on target. He'll have to show a better face at Anfield. In midfield, Vitinha and Joao Neves will have to pull out all the stops. And PSG can also rely on a well-stocked attacking line. Désiré Doué has been coming on strong in recent months, while Bradley Barcola has been in fine form. And the same goes for Ousmane Dembélé. In 2025, he has already scored 20 goals in all competitions.
